Development of tools based on the CGH array for oncological diagnosis.

This project was the first NIMGenetics venture in the oncology field, focusing on hereditary cancer, and specifically on familial colon cancer. The platforms were technically validated using DNA from both healthy and tumour samples from humans, and complemented by a validation of the bioinformatics tool using an independent population of colon cancer patients, as well as the design of bioinformatics systems to eliminate alterations present in the tested healthy population and to automatically detect deletions. The result was OncoNIM® Family Cancer, a very powerful diagnostic tool for hereditary cancer, which requires an exhaustive genetic diagnosis of both the patient and their relatives.
