Enrique Samper

Chief Executive Officer

Founding Partner of NIMGenetics. BSc degree in Biology by the Michigan State University (USA), MSc in Biotechnology by the University of London (UK), PhD in Molecular Biology by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). Predoctoral experience at the Amgen Institute (Toronto, Canada) and at the British Columbia Cancer Center (Vancouver, Canada). Postdoctoral experience at the Buck Institute for Aging Research of California (USA).

Sara Álvarez de Andrés

Chief Medical Officer

Founding Partner of NIMGenetics. Medical Doctor specialized in Hematology and Hemotherapy by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, completing her residency at Gregorio Marañón University Hospital in Madrid and at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York). In 2001 she joined the National Oncology Research Center (CNIO), Spain. During these years, her medical and research activities have been endorsed by more than 40 international publications in Oncology and Hematology. Since 2008, she is member of the Evaluation Panel of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Research Society. She was awarded the 2010 prize for the “Best Growing Project for a Small Company” in the 9th Edition of the School Project Contest Banespyme-Orange.

Javier Suela

Chief Technical Officer

PhD in Molecular Biology. He initially worked in the Molecular Cytogenetics Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Cigudosa at the Spanish National Oncology Research Center (CNIO). He joined NIMGenetics in 2008 as Genomics Technical Manager. He has published more than 20 international papers on the diagnostic application of cytogenetic and genomic techniques. Secretary of the Spanish Association of Prenatal Diagnosis (AEDP), member of the AEDP chromosomal aberrations committee, member of the Spanish Association of Human Genetics (AEGH) quality committee and assessor in array-CGH prenatal and oncological diagnosis for the Cytogenetic External Quality Assessment Service (CEQAS).

Abelardo-Banos

Abelardo Baños

IT and Quality Manager

Bs degree in Mathematics by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. More than 15 years professional experience in Quality Control and Information Technologies. As Quality Control Manager, he has implemented and certified several quality management systems (ISO, ASME, NRC, EN and PECAL) in multiple companies across sectors as diverse as civil engineering, IT consultancy, aerospace and defense industries, and service management corporations. As IT Manager, he has design and implemented systems and projects that encompassed the entire infrastructure, applications and management of the companies he worked for.

Miguel Del Cerro

Director of Human Resources and Head of Corporate Communications

Bs degree in Psicology.by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Executive Coach certification by the Escuela Europea de Coaching (International Coach Federation). MBA by the Marketing and Business School (Madrid). Marketing Strategic Planning Program by ESADE Business School. Psychological Coaching Certificate by the Institute for Coaching Psychology. He has an extensive experience designing marketing, advertising and communication strategies across a wealth of different companies and market sectors (Halcón Viajes, Air Europa, Banco Popular, Sanitas, NH Hotels, Iberdrola, Mapfre). He also has a deep expertise developing and delivering training programs and courses for companies, business schools (EOI, ADM, EBM, AEDED and universities (Universidad Nebrija, ICADE, etc.).

Guillermo Chiarroni

Chief Business and Marketing Officer

He started his business and marketing career in 1985 at Becton Dickinson, where he held several management positions, both at national —Product Manager, Spanish and Portugal Division Manager— and international levels —European Sales Effectiveness Manager at BD Headquarters in Meylan, Grenoble (France), and Global Business Head at BD Corporate in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey (USA).

Fernando Echevarría

Chief Financial Officer

Broad international experience, with more than 20 years in the IT sector (Nextel and Unipapel groups), Infrastructure Services (Cobra Group), Fitness and Health companies (Santagadea Group and LOGI) and Healthcare Services. Expertise in Corporate Governance, M&A, Funding and People Management. Orientation to goal models and digitalization to increase productivity and optimize business processes.

Antonio Gómez Martín

R&D Technical Manager

PhD in Genetics from the University of Granada. He began his research work in the Genetic Identification Lab in the forensic genetics area. He developed his thesis on toxicogenetics, and he made a stay at the University of Manchester (UK). He joined the Genomics Unit of GENYO, where he participated in various lines of research on pharmacogenetics, epigenetics, cancer genetics, autoimmune and psychiatric diseases. It has also joined the private sector, in biotechnology companies in the field of genetics.

Beatriz Maroto

R&D Managing Director

PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Predoctoral research experience in Heidelberg (Germany) and Boston (USA). Extensive postdoctoral experience in cancer, cell cycle and cell signalling, carried out at The Scripps Research Institute (San Diego, California, USA) from 2001 to 2006 and at the Spanish National Oncology Research Centre. She joined NIMGenetics in 2008, first as Project Manager and later as R&D Managing Director.

Fran Martínez

Molecular Diagnosis Laboratory Manager

PhD in Biology by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Extensive postdoctoral experience, both in academic institutions —Spanish National Cardiovascular Research Centre and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid— and biotechnology companies —Project Science to Technology. His research has always focused on Genomic Regulation, publishing many papers in high impact international scientific journals and working on R&D projects funded by the Spanish Health and Education Ministries.

Mónica Martínez

Facultative (Torres Quevedo Scholarship)

BSc degree in Biology by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, with a major in Genetics. PhD in Genetics by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Doctoral research carried at the Jiménez Díaz Foundation Hospital, focussed on the genetic and clinical characterization-of congenital defects (cardiac, craniofacial, skeletal and/or ocular congenital defects), the development of proceeding algorithms and clinical performance algorithms and guidelines for genetic counselling. This research work was awarded the runner-up prize for the best doctoral thesis in Clinical Biomedicine, and a degree in biology with a curricular line in genetics by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

Iker Sánchez

Facultative (Torres Quevedo Scholarship)

PhD in Biological Sciences by Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He began his research work at Hospital La Paz (IdiPAZ and INGEMM) developing prognostic and predictive factors in cancer. Subsequently, he worked as a member of the technical support team of Illumina (Cambridge, United Kingdom). He continued his postdoctoral research at Jiménez Díaz Foundation, focusing mainly on the characterization of hereditary syndromic retinopathies. During this stage he carried out a postdoctoral stay at Center for Applied Genomics of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (USA).

David Rubio Mangas

Researcher (Industrial Doctorate Student)

Master in Genetics and Cell Biology and graduate in Biology from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He started his research career at the Genetics Service of the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Miguel Ángel Moreno Pelayo. Subsequently, he made a research stay at the Center for the Diagnosis of Molecular Diseases (CEDEM) and at the Center for Molecular Biology “Severo Ochoa” (CBMSO), where he developed his Final Degree Project and a research internship under the supervision of Dr. Pilar Rodríguez Pombo. He later joined NIMGenetics, where he carried out his Master’s Thesis under the supervision of Dr. David de Lorenzo, and received an Erasmus + scholarship to join the research group of the Rheumatology and Bone Disease Unit at the Center for Genomic & Experimental Medicine-IGMM from the University of Edinburgh.

Mónica Ruiz

Researcher (Industrial PhD Student)

MSc in Experimental Biomedicine by the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, awarded a honour graduation prize. BSc in Pharmacological Chemistry and Biology by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Predoctoral research experience at the University of New Brunswick, Canada, and at the México General Hospital. Her research has focused on embryotoxic bioassays and the detection of changes in embryonic genetic expression patterns.

Patricia Sánchez

Researcher (Industrial PhD Student)

MSc in Pharmacological Research by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. BSc in Biochemistry by the Universidad of Castilla-La Mancha. Predoctoral research experience at the National Paraplegic Hospital of Toledo (Spain), where she focused on the functional study and neuromodulation of the nervous system, and at the Spanish National Centre of Biotechnology, where she worked on the study of the genetic control of ramification patterns in plants.
